The Meta Distribution of SINR in UAV-Assisted Cellular Networks

Mounting compact and lightweight base stations on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a cost-effective flexible solution to provide seamless coverage the existing terrestrial networks. While probability in UAV-assisted cellular networks has been widely investigated, it provides only first-order statistic of signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR). In this paper, analyze high-order statistics SINR characterize disparity among individual links, we meta distribution (MD)-based analytical framework for networks, which probabilistic line-of-sight channel realistic antenna pattern are taken into account air-to-ground transmissions. To accurately interference from UAVs, relax applied uniform off-boresight angle (OBA) assumption derive exact OBA. Using stochastic geometry, both steerable vertical scenarios, obtain mathematical expressions moments condition success probability, MD, mean local delay. Moreover, study asymptotic behavior as network density approaches infinity. Numerical results validate tightness theoretical show that OBA underestimates performance, especially regime moderate altitude UAV. We also when UAVs equipped with antennas, user fairness can be optimized simultaneously by carefully adjusting UAV parameters.
